Academic Calender
Smt R R H Patel Mahila Arts College, Vijapur envisages that the basic concept of National Service Scheme is to provide the much needed dimension of National Service and orient young students towards community service while they are studying in higher educational institution. The reason for the formulation of this objective is the general realization that college students should refrain from the tendency to get alienated from the village/slum masses which constitute the majority of the population of the country. The educated youth who are expected to take the reins of administration in future are found to be unaware of the problems of the village/slum community and in certain cases are indifferent towards their needs and problems. Therefore it is necessary to arouse the social conscience of the students, and to provide them with an opportunity to work with the people in the villages and slums. It is felt that their interaction with the common villagers and slum dwellers will expose them to the realities of life and bring about a positive change in their social perception.
Seven Streams was initiated:
1 : To involve students in academic, co curricular and extracurricular activities of their choice and interest
2: To create a confluence of activities so that the flow of activities continues unabated and functions as medium to channelize other streams and activities
3: To provide options to students and staff members for association and development through activities of interest
4: To improve the overall involvement of students and help them mould their personality
Being a rural women’s college with students from nearly 90 villages it was difficult to involve them in activities other than class room teaching. The IQAC along with staff members under the guidance of the Principal decided to implement the Seven Streams or SAPTADHARA so as to encourage students to select and participate in activities of their own interest.
These activities are divided into seven streams. Students have to opt for at least one of the streams according to their interest. Each stream is coordinated by a team of two staff members and representatives from each class.
